The Nashville Food Project, a non-profit focused on cultivating community and alleviating hunger in the city, had outgrown its space. Gresham Smith and R.C. Mathews Contractor were chosen to create a solution that would allow the organization to serve an even wider base that ever before. Having operated out of a residential-sized kitchen at Woodmont Christian Church since 2009, the Nashville Food Project envisioned a large commercial kitchen in which their over 100 weekly volunteers could whip up meals for organizations and people across the city. Also included in the new facility is a large community dining space, shared offices and a board room, and large dry storage, walk-in cooler and freezer for food storage and prep. Overall, the new facility brings to life their message of bringing people together to grow, cook and share nourishing food, with the goals of cultivating community and alleviating hunger in our city.
