The Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Belmont University

Project Overview

Sitting on nearly 3 acres of land, the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts is an incredible addition to Belmont University’s growing campus and thriving performing arts program. The 150,000 sq. ft. facility acts as an incredible performance space and learning tool for Belmont students and includes a state-of-the-art 1,700 seat theater. The building’s transformative features allow students to get hands-on experience with stage and scene set up, while providing members of the Nashville community and beyond with a world class performance space.

The building includes extraordinary features and craftmanship around every corner. From 48-foot-tall limestone columns with custom iconography to a ceiling that can be adjusted to act as a “hard” or “soft” surface, the Fisher Center’s complex geography and minimal tolerances for finishes demanded precise pre-planning and coordination. Each space of the Fisher Center was carefully planned and constructed for a specific use. For example, the performance rooms were all carefully tuned to ensure complete silence—even a whisper on the stage can be heard from the farthest balcony. The Fisher Center will further enrich Belmont’s connection with the local community and serve as a pipeline to national and global performing arts communities.
