Project Overview
R.C. Mathews Contractor completed the Phase III improvements at Nashville’s Centennial Park, including a new 6,465-square-foot Event Pavilion overlooking Lake Watauga and the renovation of the park’s historic croquet clubhouse into Croquet Cafe.
The Event Pavilion is the first new building constructed in Centennial Park in more than 60 years. Designed to complement the park’s existing architecture, the open-air pavilion provides a flexible gathering space that can accommodate up to 1,250 guests standing for concerts, festivals, community programs, fundraisers, private events, and longtime park traditions.
Originally constructed in 1963, the croquet clubhouse was renovated and transformed into Croquet Cafe. Located next to the Sunken Garden, the cafe features indoor seating, public restrooms, and an expansive outdoor courtyard while offering food, refreshments, and merchandise to park visitors.
Additional improvements included upgraded pedestrian pathways, vehicle entrances, parking, and site work throughout the park’s north side to improve access and connectivity. With Centennial Park remaining active throughout construction, our team carefully coordinated the work to maintain park access while completing the new pavilion, renovation, and surrounding site improvements.
